summer intensive
11 July 2024
(180 min)
Animateur : Derwinn Green
In this short workshop, Derwinn will offer techniques to improve extensions in the arms, legs and rib cage at work in the essential postures of dynamic yoga.
You will learn how to get better leverage in poses and engage the necessary muscles to consolidate and reinforce your practice.
You’ll have the keys you need to practice on your own over your summer vacation.
This is an intense postural practice open to people who regularly practice yoga and who don’t have physical limitations that interfere with their practice.
You are strongly encouraged to sign up for both days, but it will be possible to do one or the other of the two days.
What to expect
• a short meditation as well as the recitation of mantras to begin the practice
• exploration of nadi shodhana
• exploration of duration and intensity of kapalabhati
• a thorough warm-up to prepare the body for the practise
• strengthening exercises will be used throughout the sessions
• variations will be introduced in asanas so that each practioner can make the practise their own
• build stamina through repetition and longer holding of postures
• explore the use of supports (straps, bricks, etc)
• explore the use of breath in static pose as well as transitioning between asanas
• at least one dynamic sequence will be explored and built upon
Advice to get the most out of your experience:
• get adequate rest the night before
• leave at least one full hour or more between your lunch and the workshop
• prepare the body with at least one yoga class per week in the weeks leading up to the mini-stage
